I've been teaching elementary school for a little over a decade now. 6th grade, 5th grade and 3rd grade. Before teaching I worked at Girl Scout Resident camp for 5 years and the Child Development Center at Western Washington University.
I believe in building student independence by teaching them structures, routines and organizational techniques. I believe in student responsibility for their own learning, students who see learning as their job work hard and have ownership of their learning.
Bethel School District Teacher of the Year Nominee - 2008
I graduated from WWU with a bachelors in Elementary Education and Sociology. I also earned a masters degree in Curriculum & Instruction in Reading through Grand Canyon University.
In addition to teaching, I am a mother of a sweet 3 year old boy, and a brand new baby girl, a wife, as well as a church and Girl Scout volunteer. I enjoy crafting (knitting, scrap-booking, rubber stamping, beading etc.) in my spare time.
