TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught middle school for 16 years and high school for one year. My subject area was Language Arts. I taught reading and writing curriculum. In my Teachers Pay Teachers store, I am focusing more on writing as that is the subject I love the most. My goal is to create engaging resources that will help students develop a love for language arts.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I always liked to have students as involved in class as possible. I would give frequent story starters, individual and group projects, and encouraged students to be comfortable sharing their work with others. We did book talks, skits, commercials and many other projects. I used direct instruction to teach the curriculum and then got the students to working on their own as quickly as possible. One of the greatest joys I had when I was teaching was to see a student who started off not liking to write suddenly start to come up with creative projects in my class.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I started off getting a Bachelor of Arts with General Studies. After graduating, I decided I wanted to become a teacher and went back to school to get my K-8 teacher certification through a post-baccalaureate program.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

In addition to creating educational resources, I have self-published several fictional novels. I love to write. I find that it is a great stress reliever! I also love to spend time with my cat, watch movies, and go for walks.
