I am an EAL (English as Another Language) Teacher at an International School in Thailand. I have experience in teaching both EAL and Mainstream students, following the British curriculum. I’ve attended many EAL seminars and have made presentations sharing my EAL teaching resources, materials and strategies to International school teachers in Thailand as well as South East Asia. I was one of the main presenters at the FOBISSEA EAL JAWS 2013, which was atteneded by all International Schools in the Southeast Asia that follows British curriculum. The presentation was highly commended! I’m currently working on my new material to present at FOBISSEA EAL JAWS 2014!
I believe that children learn best when they learn by "doing". Not only does that guarantee and secure their knowledge, it also helps prolonging their attentions and interests. Children will most likely remember and enjoy a task if they are to get their hands in it and complete it, with little to eventually, no help. Obviously, guidance is important but it's important for the children to have a sense of accomplishment once they finish their task and know that they completed most of the work independently.
