TEACHING EXPERIENCE

16 years experience across all primary levels. Ten years in middle school and seven years as literacy leader

MY TEACHING STYLE

I try to differentiate and give students choice. It is important to make sure all levels are catered for. I think rich, open ended tasks are appropriate for middle school and they ensure that enrichment students remain on task. During the last year, I have investigated and used Growth Mindset in the classroom. I want students to experience success, but I also want them to challenge themselves and learn from mistakes.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

NEITA nominated teacher 2013. Bastow Graduate - Leading Literacy 2014 Make Everyday Better nominated teacher 2013 and 2015

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have taught at two schools over 16 years. The first school was large and had an enrolment of almost 600 students. The second school is considered semi-rural and currently has an enrolment of 170 students. I have been Literacy Leader of this school for seven years.
