I started my teaching career teaching Head Start preschool in North Carolina. I loved my job and my wonderful teaching assistant, Cindy. After my husband finished his Master's degree, we returned home to Ohio to be closer to family. While in Ohio, I taught first grade at a wonderful elementary school. During this time, I had the opportunity to teach a few doors down from my mom. We had a blast that year!
I use a variety of strategies with my students. I really love doing hands-on activities, but I'm willing to try just about any strategy that works and is fun/engaging for my students.
Outstanding Undergraduate Student in Literacy
I graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2008 with my degree in Elementary Education. While living in North Carolina and teaching preschool, I attended Western Carolina University on-line and completed my BK (Birth-Kindergarten) degree. Over the past few years, I have completed half of my Masters in Literacy. Throughout my education, I have been so blessed to have a mom who taught for 38 years before recently retiring. We have had numerous conversations about "teacher topics" from which I have learned so much. I am so thankful for the wisdom she has passed down.
My husband and I have two children. I have recently had the opportunity to stay at home with them full-time. I am thankful for this opportunity! When not busy with my children, I love working on creating teaching resources for my TPT store. My family and I truly appreciate your support!
