I am an LPC and I have spent the last 3 years working with survivors of child sexual abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault. I do trauma counseling and supportive counseling with my clients. I have also given trainings in different settings about Self Care and Compassion Fatigue. These two realms are where my passions really are!
Although I am not a teacher, I believe as a domestic violence and sexual abuse trauma counselor that a large portion of my work is psycho education and teaching my clients everything I can about they type of trauma they have experienced. I teach my clients on a one on one very personal basis due to how counseling looks. My Self Care products are designed to give this same feel but in a way that you can use them on your own. For my student products, I have worked to adjust my products to easily work in large groups of students as well as a one on one basis, so you can really make them work for you and your setting!
The highlight of my work with client's is when I get to "graduate" a child client from trauma therapy! I LOVE getting to see how proud they are and getting the opportunity to remind them of all the progress they have made!
I have a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration from Texas A&M and a Master’s of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and am planning to become trained in EMDR very soon!
I am a mama to a rambunctious little boy and a cuddly dog named cooper! My husband I are both Aggies and if they are playing any sport, we’re probably watching it! I’m very close with my family and love spending time with them. I have been a counselor since 2014 but my mother is also a counselor and has been my entire life so it’s kind of in my blood and I’ve been learning the field my entire life!
