TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught pre-K through 2nd grade for 7 years. After returning to school for a Master's Degree in English, I also taught English in high school. I also have a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe all education should be child-centered, focused on the individual development of each child. The most important aspect of the learing environment is the teacher's personality. If the teacher is respectful to all children, children will retain their self-respect while developing compassion for others. I believe in a holistic approach to education by which I mean addressing the whole child in the learing experience. School is not a preparation for life, it is life. The atmosphere for learning should be warm and loving as well as creative and exciting.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was on the Dean's List for most of my college and Graduate school education. I won several Writing Contests while I was in school and had my first novel published by St. Martin's Press. I also worked as a newspaper writer and a short story writer for various national magazines.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a B.A. in English as well as a Master's Degree in teaching adolescent English. I also have a Master's in Early Childhood Education. My GPA has consistently been 3.8 or higher. All of my education was at Brooklyn College, in Brooklyn, New York.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am dedicated to the prospect of all children receiving the best possible experiences in their education. I have always enjoyed teaching, each grade level offering its own challenges and rewards. I home schooled my own daughter for three years before she enrolled in high school. I have also always enjoyed writing and I am usually working on some writing project. I have years of experience to draw on in terms of lesson plans. I have recently semi-retired and would love to give some of my lesson plans a new life, via Teachers Pay Teachers!
