I've been teaching in a multi-age setting for 11 years. At times, it's been quite challenging. Overall, though, it's been extremely rewarding and fulfilling! Doing so has really helped me hone my skills in differentiation. It's also helped me have a STRONG appreciation for Guided Reading and Close Reading. In addition, I've learned that Writing Workshops and Math Workshops are sometimes a God-send!
I have to say, I have learned so much from other teachers over the years and absolutely LOVE TpT because we're all helping each other! It's also had a huge impact on my teaching style. As I learn about new methods and strategies, I always know I can come to TpT and find great products without reinventing the wheel or taking hours to find! That said, I work very hard to teach in a creative, engaging way. Typically, if I don't have my kids' attention and make it *meaningful* to them, retention goes out the window. I don't teach "to a test"--I teach what I know is BEST for my kids. This can totally change over the course of months and definitely from year to year. What's best for my kids now may not be what's best for them a few months later. This is one reason I'm a big fan of Close Reading; it's really helped me to help my kids who struggle with comprehension and has helped with retention. As a teacher in multi-age settings, I'm also a huge fan of project-based learning and unit studies. My favorite products are those that include work some students can work on independently while I'm working directly with others. These days, I primarily teach units with plenty of hands-on activities!

In addition to teaching my crew and creating products, I've also been working professionally as both a writer and copy editor for over 10 years. I've done work for some sellers on TpT, but my most consistent copy editing client is always in the Top 5-10 every week. As of 2017, I have experience teaching preschool through 10th grade. My specialty areas include various elementary levels and middle school. The products I create will usually span three to four grade levels, which makes differentiating easier! :o)
