I had the incredible opportunity to observe Montessori kindergarten and teach in both middle and high school classes during a 3 month stint in Scandinavia. I was able to learn about the infamous Finnish education system while conducting educational research. This time abroad and interviewing educators there has majorly impacted my teaching style and methodology. I worked full time as a sub for a year and a half in grades K-8 in a charter school. I then took over a maternity leave position for end of year and became the full time lead teacher in that same first grade classroom for two years. Additional teaching experience during the start of my career included teaching a weekly, 2 hour long, newcomers class in my church. I was responsible for training the serve team leads and writing the newcomers class curriculum for the church. I also received training from professional interpreters in American Sign Language worship interpretation. I loved being equips and mentored in signing for my Deaf friends in our congregation several times. I was eventually able to provide some support by interpreting conversations and meetings between the Deaf and hearing people at church events, as needed. Over the last 4 years, I have homeschooled my three kids under age 6. Currently, I am designing a global, Christian curriculum, creating content forTpT, and continuing to homeschool our kids.
I teach subjects through a singular topic (a country of the world and filter all subjects through that selected nation) and my work always has loads of creative opportunities inside. My content is very hands on and is bursting with discovery.

I lived all over the place growing up, so I was educated in the US, Finland, and in Grand Cayman. My college degrees are in Communication Studies and Elementary Education with a minor in American Sign Language.
