TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am certified and highly qualified to teach all areas of special education Pre-K to grade 12 according to the policies set forth by the states of Georgia and Florida. For the past 12 years I taught special education in a self-contained community based instruction setting in an urban environment. I worked with an amazing group of people and students with great success, helping my students successfully transition to supported employment and ensuring that they are able to enjoy meaningful life experiences and be as independent as possible. I am a lead teacher and teacher mentor. I have shared my original and modified materials with teachers in my school and in the surrounding learning community for several years and am very excited about the opportunity to share with the world of education at large!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a tech geek and use as much technology as I can in every lesson. I modify my lessons and materials to meet the needs of my students.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was twice nominated for Teacher of the Year for my school and received awards for “performance beyond the call of duty.” I volunteered for local and state special Olympics summer and winter games. I served as GAA lead teacher for my school as well as a consultant for teachers placed at other schools.
