I have worked for 31 years as a bilingual speech pathologist with Spanish- and English-speaking students with speech and language deficits in addition to providing inclusion services for general education students.
I teach using multiple modalities (auditory/visual/gestural/tactile/music) and believe that interactive short stories are an excellent means to promote language and articulation growth as well as phonological awareness.
Yet to be added
B.A. in Speech Pathology from Univ of Virginia; M.A. in Speech & Language Pathology from Northwestern University; 31 years as speech pathologist in hospitals, rehab clinics, preschool centers, early childhood homebound services and Chicago public schools in Spanish-speaking neighborhoods.
I am a mother of 2 adult children and 2 grandchildren who love to listen to well-illustrated books as much as I loved to read them. For 6 years I lived in northern Spain where I became fluent in Spanish. I have always worked in inner city schools where resources are limited, parents often don't speak English, and do not have a history of being read to as children. My passion is to assist parents as well as children in becoming great communicators and to instill in them a love of books. Since I was a child, I have loved art as well as story-telling. It is my privilege to now use my educational knowledge of normal language development as well as my gifts in art, story-telling and being bilingual, to assist you in your teaching experience. I hope you will experience much joy in using my materials!
