TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm currently an ESL teacher in a classroom and on a distance-learning program in Canada and have taught EAP in Asia. I've had a felicitously checkered history working in the nonprofit, private, and public sectors in different countries.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Believing that human beings are created Imago Dei and the command to love one's neighbor as oneself, I try to approach the privilege of teaching others with respect and love. And what greater example of that than the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Everything else flows from this. One means of helping others was through the Incarnation, which in my case involves walking a little in the learner's shoes. Another way is not to compromise standards of learning; the Trinity wasn't simplified just because our minds are puny. But because His standard is so high, I can never stop learning, repenting, and growing.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I've been in school for too long, collecting a bunch of degrees, including one in English. One useful thing, though, I'm also certified by TESL Ontario to teach English as a second language to adults.
