I have taught science for over 28 years in a variety of settings, public, private, parochial, and even spent a year helping a home school group. Though I have taught science is grades 6-12 and a little bit of college, I have spent the vast majority of it teaching middle school., and of that mostly 8th graders.
My teaching styles have varied depending upon school requirements and school types. But, I would have to say that I have spent quite a bit of that time giving students choices in how they demonstrate their understanding of topics via differentiated instruction. Differentiation does work! (It's not easy...but it does work.) Of the many means or modes of teaching, I truly love the hands-on lab approach.

Bachelors of Science in Biology/ Masters Degree in Science Education (My background is biology but have spent the vast majority of my career teaching physical science. Hey, go figure! If I was to go teach biology again, I would have to take courses to get up to date on changes. ;^)
Come on over and check us out -- https://its-science.com/ More science stuff- have worked in three different laboratories (all microbiological & potentially harmful stuff). Passions/hobbies: Currently, fly fishing. There is so much to this type of fishing. Oh, and cooking. I love to cook. It's like therapy for me and experimenting. Still interested but don't pursue as much martial arts, scuba diving, or playing guitar. Other interests include working with computers (have built several of my own from scratch) and exploring new features, apps, etc (GO LINUX!) Love to build things and craft items (depending on what the season or reason is). In the past, I have built methane generator, parabolic solar cooker, other types of solar cookers, shark cage (don't ask) and other weird, but interesting things.
