TEACHING EXPERIENCE

• Five months experience working with TRIO students at Jacksonville University, tutoring mathematics, physics, chemistry, statistics, and philosophy. • Twenty-seven years experience teaching high school physics and mathematics and middle school science and mathematics – Retired June, 2012 • Two years experience teaching Liberal Arts Mathematics and Architectural Calculus at the University of Florida. • Four years experience teaching mathematics at FCCJ as an adjunct professor, including courses in Algebra, Liberal Arts Mathematics, and Calculus for Business and Social Sciences, combining classroom and online instruction (Blackboard). • Publication of a general physics book - Physics Through Inquiry in 2002. • Three years as a resource teacher for the Jacksonville Urban Systemic Initiative. In this capacity, I worked with other JUSI team members to write science curriculum, and design and present professional development activities in workshops, and through follow-up classroom visits. I collected and analyzed data to determine the effect of the work and suggested modifications for consideration by the leadership. • As Technology Leader for the National Science Foundation Urban Systemic Inititive for three years, I was responsible for participating in leadership decisions for the project and for helping district technology leaders plan and implement technological changes and innovations. .

MY TEACHING STYLE

The lessons I design and teach are • standard based • inquiry driven • based on integrating Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) • designed to include expression of ideas in clearly written paragraphs, illustrated with interpretive diagrams and charts, and justified by carefully crafted logical reasoning •
