I've taught for 6 years in the public school system in grades 1-3. In recent years, I've mainly taught 1st grade. I am GATE tier 1 certified, and I teach my first graders using GATE strategies.
I firmly believe in providing a positive learning environment where students feel safe, challenged and understand that mistakes are essential to learning. I teach so each student is challenged at their own level knowing that students learn at different speeds and with different styles. I feeI that GATE strategies are beneficial to everyone and I teach with them across grade levels. I also have a passion for technology integration in the classroom.

I attended the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). I graduated with a Masters in Education, CLAD infused Multiple Subject Credential, B.A. in Human Development and a minor in Education Studies. I also holds a GATE Tier 1 certification, which I obtained through San Diego State University (SDSU).
When I'm not teaching, you can find me cheering on my favorite sports teams. I am an avid sports fan and love to watch football and basketball. I also love to travel! Being a great teacher involves experiencing the world and bringing that worldly knowledge into the classroom! This helps me to to help mold and grow the minds of my students.
