I have taught Deaf/Hard of Hearing students for the past 10 years. I am currently a hearing itinerant teacher in Northern Illinois and I service students ages 3-18 years old. I have had the privilege of working with professionals on developing effective assessment strategies along with lessons that focus on self-advocacy skills, communication, hearing knowledge, auditory training and more. These resources were designed specifically for students who have a hearing loss, however, they can also be used for special education students or those who receive speech therapy services.
Hearing itinerant teachers work primarily one-on-one or in small group "quiet" settings. Often times our job requires us to "push-in" to the classroom to support our students' hearing needs. My teaching method reflects my personal goal to achieve success through real world experiences. My focus is to enhance our students' communication abilities with an emphasis on self-advocacy and auditory skills.

Graduated from Northern Illinois University with degree in Deaf Education in 2005.
I attended an elementary school that had a self-contained Deaf program. That is where my interest with educating Deaf/Hard of Hearing students began. I fell in love with the language and then with Deaf culture. In addition to being a hearing itinerant teacher, I am married and have two precious daughters (ages 2 and 4). I wouldn't be the teacher I am without their support and encouragement these past several years!
