I've been teaching English, writing classes, and writing and reading test prep classes for 12 years. I'm still in the classroom and teach daily. I've taught grades 8-12 and have tutored at the early college level. I also freelance write and blog about education.
When I first started teaching, I was very hands-on and always worried about making my students learn. I've learned over the years that educators cannot make children do anything. However, if my students are engaged and want to learn, I'm always there for them. Even if they don't do work and simply need a trusted adult to talk to, I'm always there for them. I enjoy being a role model for young people and feel that this generation desperately needs adults that care for them and can be role models for them.
Teacher of the Month (GA) Mentorship of Teacher Certification (MD) "Realest English Teacher" (My students)
I have a Master's Degree in Secondary Education. I'm still in the classroom and teach daily. I grew up in and got a wonderful education in Norfolk, Virginia. I've now taught in three different states (VA, GA, and MD) in the course of 12 years. I love learning about teaching and education. I want to start creating lesson plans and high-interest educational materials to foster an appreciation for reading and writing for both young people and adults.
