I have been a gifted education teacher for the past three years and an art teacher for over 19 years in Illinois and Kentucky. I have worked part-time for Murray State University, College of Education, Center for Gifted Studies as the program director for their Summer Challenge and "Super Saturdays" programs for gifted students Kindergarten through 8th grade teaching and directing the program 2012-2016.
I have a layed back classroom management style as far as directing students to push the envelope and try new things. I want my students to learn the techniques and try new types of art media, but my art assignments are open-ended. I tell my students that I can't think of everything, and if they have a different way of doing something I want to give them the opportunity and supplies to try out their ideas.
I was asked to be a member of the Gifted Education Advisory Committee for Western Kentucky.
I have a B.S. in Art from Murray State University, a Master's of Education from Murray State University, a certification in Art Education and an endorsement in Gifted Education and Teacher Leader.
I am married to a wonderfully supportive man and have three children who are all very creative! We live on a farm and have lavender and pearl guineas, chickens, ducks, dogs, cats and Nigerian Dwarf goats at the moment. We work in our flower and vegetable gardens and like being busy.
