I have been teaching in Sarasota County for 9 years. I teach at a Title 1 school with a majority of ESOL students. I have taught all subjects for 4th and 5th graders, been a 4/5 split teacher, but my passion is math. I started to write poems in Science and Math to help students remember concepts. That has morphed into short stories like "Rounding Rescue" that teach a Math skills and a LA skill. I have more ideas for books and a few more stories are complete.
Whatever it takes! There is a fine line between having fun and loosing control. I try to walk that line, so the kids are having fun and learning. I am not there yet, but trying to master that idea. I realized early on that kids don't care what you know until they know you care. I have also found that many students are just not confident in math. That is the theme of "Rounding Rescue". I try to instill that confidence in students.

I am happily married to my teacher wife, Heather. We have two beautiful and energetic girls. I get many of my ideas as I sit at the dance studio waiting for my daughters.
