I taught beginning-intermediate and multi-level adult ESL classes for over 6 years. I have also worked as a substitute teacher in almost all grade levels, with the most time in 4th grade, middle school, and high school.
I love planning lessons on topics related to my students' interests and needs. The best lessons are relevant, engaging, and integrate multiple skills while examining a topic, so students have multiple opportunities to use the new vocabulary or structures in different ways. I always try to provide a variety of types of practice to accommodate different student learning styles and preferences.

I'm fascinated by languages, literature, history, biology, cultures-- learning or teaching about almost anything. I'm fluent in English and Spanish, and have studied a little Chinese as well. I love to see children or adults get excited about learning and find that they can communicate in a new language-- with all the doors that opens. Now I have a website teaching English, www.Englishhints.com (as well as a daughter teaching high school English) and try to create lessons and practice activities that will help students become fluent in English-- and enjoy using it.
