I have 18 years as a science teacher with 4 years as an K-12 Academic science coach. My favorite science is Forensics and I thrive on helping teachers to be the best they can. I work with all teachers, all students guiding them in the 5 C's (Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication and citizenship) helping them to be prepared for the 21st Century. I have a passion for NGSS and its implementation. I have worked with Southern California and the NGSS Rollout as a presenter, and I am a Trainer of Trainer for the California NGSS Rollout series.
I believe nurtururting a Growth Mindset is essential to the positive engagement of our students. The use of hands on activities and open ended questioning opens the mind and encourages motivation. I love giving students the tools to grapple with questions and then give them guiding questions to guide their learning and discovery. Students will acquire the skills to apply their knowledge,if they learn it through hands on, grappling with problems and a teacher that facilitates their learning.
