As a young student I struggled greatly with mathematics. As I completed my college course work I began a private company helping parents at home with their child's homework. As I taught more and more I realized that there were some easier methods and phrases that could be used to help the struggling math student. The books and posters that I create come from the experiences that I have had making struggling math students become much more successful.

I choose to be very direct with instruction. I choose my words carefully and I make my students follow my step-by-step procedures methodically. Every lesson I teach begins with modeling and I gradually let the students take full control of their problem solving as I monitor their progress. In addition, every math lesson I teach ends with several word problems - I call this this the application phase of the lesson.
