I have had the pleasure of teaching both in a traditional classroom and in a one-to-one setting. As a teacher and department head at a specialized private school, I had the opportunity to create resources for every learning type and across grade levels. Before I entered the classroom, I supported ESOL/ESL students as a writing instructor at the college level. Throughout my years in education, I have supported students with mild to moderate learning differences and disabilities, and it has been the reward of a lifetime to watch those students grow and succeed.
I love project based learning and inquiry based learning! Anytime that students can fuse personal interests with curriculum feels like a homerun. As a writing instructor at heart, I have a passion for writing across curriculum, particularly for social studies classes.
My favorite moments as a teacher are absolutely the "firsts." When students proudly let me know that this was the first essay that they had written or book that they had read (or enjoyed!) – these were always the highlights of my day!
