I have been blessed to teach a variety of age groups and content areas in my career as a teacher. Summer of 2010: I taught Algebra II, Advanced Math, & Pre-Calculus to 11th & 12 graders 2010-2011: 5th grade math, reading, & Social Studies at a Magnet School that infused the arts curriculum into general content areas. 2011-2012: 8th grade math (Pre-Algebra.) 2012-2015: 4th Grade Math, Science, & Social Studies. 2015-2016: 6th Grade ELA 2016-2019: 6th Grade Science 2019 - Present: 7th grade Math

My teaching style has changed over the years and my style changes as the school year progresses. During the school year, I like to do a gradual release of responsibility. I start the year with a lot of direct instruction, guided practice, and independent practice. At my school, we give weekly mixed practice tests that look like our state test. I spend more time reviewing old skills through a variety of activities.

2022-2023 Teacher of the Year For the 2022-2023 school year, I had the most growth out of all the teachers in our large district. 92% of my students grew on their state test.

In 2009, I earned a Bachelor's Degree from University of Southern Mississippi in Elementary Education with concentrations in reading, ELA, math, and Social Studies.

I am a wife and a mom of two wonderful children that are now legal adults. Sigh. I spend my summers attending professional development and planning for the upcoming year. I love to write, dance, and just create. I have published three children's books: Martha Brooks Goes to the Watermelon Festival, My Third Grade Teacher is a Witch, and Joey Meets the Average Family which are available on Amazon and Kindle. I am an introvert but sometimes I pretend I am the most confident person in the room and that's what I become.
