TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 20 years of teaching experience with the Appleton Area School District. In 2007 I collaborated with a team of 7 to create an Interdisciplinary Framework for a charter school called, the Appleton Career Academy. The model has sense been implemented by over 25 school districts across the country. The creation of the Willems Student Marketing Team is an extension of my charter school with the business community. Please find amazing and innovative student outcomes on Facebook/Willems Student Marketing Team. I have been a State Recognized DECA Advisor for 20 years and I am fluent with my understanding of Career Based Learning and how to implement core into Career and Technical Education. My curriculum is engaging and filled with outcomes that students will take into their adult lives. The new relevance and rigor is how I am branding myself. You will enjoy the challenge.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Project Based Instruction where students set S.M.A.R.T goals and are directed through curriculum with "Begin with the End in Mind Thinking" Emotional Intelligence is incorporated into most of my curriculum as I believe in education of the whole child and this includes self awareness.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am passionate about giving students the opportunity to take what they learn and understand how they can use the concepts later in life. My work with the business community in Wisconsin has allowed me the opportunity to take my creativity for curriculum writing to a level that fits the needs and wants of today's K-12 learner. Enjoy your role as an educator and allow yourself to be creative and to cross collaborate with everyone. The risk is worth it and your students will thank you!
