2018 Keystone Technology Innovator; Presenter at the 2018 Future of Educational Technology Conference in Orlando, Florida; Schools-To-Watch Ambassador || This is my sixth year teaching 8th grade Language Arts and a Reading/Writing Lab in a public middle school. The district is extremely tech-centered, utilizing resources such as 1:1 iPad ratios, a SmallLab, an EnergyCenter, and a Creative Media Center. We also have a Dream Factory, which focuses on providing interesting STEAM learning experiences for middle school students. In addition to working at this progressive school district, I also work at Duquesne University's Reading Clinic--discovering new ways to engage students in critical reading strategies.
MAIN TEACHING STYLES: PERSONALIZED LEARNING; GAME-BASED LEARNING; PROJECT-BASED LEARNING; MODERN-TEACHER I believe in creating learning experiences to engage students in the processes of understanding. Project-based learning is my favorite way to create lessons where students are actively participating in the learning process. While creating all of my own curriculum resources and materials, I integrate best practices, proven and supported by leading researchers on reading comprehension and writing composition.
