Over 20 years of experience as a social worker working in schools, home based, and private practice with children, teens, and young adults. Long history of primarily working with those with anxiety, autism, and other disabilities. Current job is in a Title 1 Elementary School as their School Social Worker.
My work with those dealing with anxiety has evolved to include a variety of approaches, (CBT, ACT, Mindfulness Practice, Solution Focused…). I focus on the awareness of our thoughts and how they influence us and the need to develop the means to cope when our anxiety rears up. Overall, I find helping my clients to note what thoughts and feelings are happening and to identify those that are leading them down a difficult path. I focus on mindful awareness of these experiences and avoid approaches that would attempt to avoid or push away those experiences.
