TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my fourth year in the classroom, and I have loved every minute of it! I started in 8th grade intervention math, and have taught both 7th and 8th grade science. On the in-district science benchmark testing, my students achieved the highest test scores both in raw scores and in terms of growth.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am super passionate about making learning fun, especially about subjects that students may not be thrilled about normally. I love having my students work collaboratively, and this year have been teaching at an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, so I am also familiar with teaching within a wider global context and focusing on real-world application. After all, haven't we all heard that infamous question from a student: "But when am I ACTUALLY going to use this?" Having those big-picture ideas help them grasp where a concept might relate to other areas in their life. I'm also pretty big on project-based learning, because most students don't want to sit and take notes on something... They want to DO something!
