I have been teaching since 2007 in Florida. My specialty is math, science, and writing in upper elementary. Before teaching, I traveled the world so I have a passion and love for diverse settings and bringing culture from all over the world into my classroom. My first 15 years of teaching was in Title One schools with 75% or higher diversity demographics. I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. I've also been a reading interventionist, a writing coach, a testing coordinator, and an instructional coach.
I believe children need a specific atmosphere to grow and reach their greatest potential. I create a lot of hands-on science experiments for children. My classroom is full flexible seating with a couch, carpets, rockers, yoga balls, stools, bouncy bands, balance balls, and standing table. My walls are painted light blue and lavender and my students change the color of my LED lights around my bulletin boards each morning. I always have a soothing smell of wax melting and often have coffee shop music on low. My classroom is definitely a cozy coffee shop vibe.
