TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently in my ninth year of teaching at a rural school in Ontario, Canada. This is my eighth year teaching Kindergarten, and the more I learn, the more I enjoy teaching this age ... despite never thinking in a million years that I would be teaching Kindergarten! As I went through my Concurrent Education program at Queen's University, my goal was to teach Grade 7 and 8 French (which I did, my first year of teaching). After being surplused in my second year, I was plopped into Kindergarten - completely overwhelmed and 100% clueless as to what I needed to do first. Now that I am in my fifth year as a Kindergarten teacher, I have learned so much from peers, workshops and especially the students! Throughout my years of teaching, I have found it extemeley difficult to find quality resources that are in French. Since most of the sellers on Teachers Pay Teachers are from the United States, I've noticed that many bilingual products are in English/Spanish (which is great)! This gave me the idea to help out Canadian teachers who struggle to find resources in French. I hope they can help you as much as they have helped me!

MY TEACHING STYLE

Since our curriculum is Play-Based, my teaching style is very student-centred while remaining academically relevant. My goal is to always have both my students' interest and curriculum expectations in mind when creating learning centre activities. Consequently, our classroom is an ever-changing, co-created space that I feel creates a warm learning environment for each individual student.
