This coming school year marks eight years as an English teacher. Each year, I feel more and more inspired. I love the TPT community and fully support the chance to collaborate with peers and produce effective and meaningful lessons for my students.
I like to be as creative as possible and I always, always, always think of how the lesson relates to my students' lives. I think having some sort of relevance is what hooks them in to the lesson. I love incorporating pop culture!
This is a silly award, but I am proud to say I won the "Mr. Rogers Award" when I was a resident assistant in college. Now in the classroom, I try to build the same sort of community for my students.
I graduated from Kent State University in 2010. I majored in Integrated Language Arts (7-12) with a minor in English. In 2017 I obtained my master's degree (in Learning and Technology) through Western Governor's University and love creating digital classroom projects.
I was born and raised on the shores of Lake Erie. After going to college, I moved to the biggest small town in Ohio (Columbiana), but I left the area to pursue a better career opportunity. I am now nestled in the foothills of Appalachia, and I am loving it. This is my eleventh year as a teacher. Words to live by: "Always be a little kinder than necessary." J. M. Barrie
