TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 17 years teaching experience. For the past 12 years I've worked in elementary and high school libraries as a media specialist and a technology coach. During the pandemic I taught online as an intervention specialist in 4, 7, and 8th grade because of my strong technology and SPED background. I am passionate about the transformative power of reading, technology and the importance of information literacy in society. As a school librarian in Northeast Ohio, I coordinated thriving elementary and high school library programs where I taught students, collaborated with colleagues, and provided professional development on various library, curricular, and educational topics. I often help my colleagues and I love teaching adults. Occasionally, I even teach preservice SPED teachers online as an adjunct instructor. It keeps me fresh!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use humor;), direct instruction, and scaffolding. I teach almost everything using a gradual release of responsibility approach. Technology is naturally included in my lessons, though content ALWAYS comes first (after the learner of course)!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

In 2015, I was honored to receive the Information Technology Innovation award from the Ohio Educational Media Association. I've presented at state, local and national education conferences hosted by ELA, Technology, and library associations.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I hold a Master of Education in Instructional Technology , a Master of Library and Information Science and a Bachelor of Science in Education. I have active licenses in special education for k-12 Mild/Moderate Intervention Specialist and School Library Media K-12. I like learning...

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I'm a busy mom to THREE boys, ages 4, 13 and 11. My husband and I love camping with them and our pup. I love designing meaningful digital curriculum and my M.Ed. actually focused on online curriculum design and distance learning!
