15-years in middle school language arts and social studies

I want my students to experience as many firsts as possible. For example, in seventh grade language arts I introduce thesis statements and argumentative writing. With the proper guidance, all of my students can be successful with this difficult process. In social studies, we tackel difficult topics such as the Arab-Israeli conflict, forms of governments, and major religions. We have fun and work hard while dealing with grown-up content. I keep the end goal in mind which is to have students who can understand the world and literature above and beyond their life experience.
