    Increase your student's reading and writing vocabulary by helping them understand the meaning of common roots within words. As students learn the meaning of root words, they can apply that reading strategy to decode new words, increasing their vocabulary and reading comprehension.

    These BOOM decks focus on the following sets of common root words to increase vocabulary:

    Set One:

    astr = star

    chron = time

    audi = hear

    mit = send

    geo = life

    graph = write

    dict = say, speak

    hydr = water

    Set Two:

    spec = look/see

    therm = heat

    Four vocabulary activities are included:

    (2) reading and matching meaning to each root word
