Description

This game is a FANTASTIC way to assess students' reading and aural skills.

Many levels are available:

Value Pack: All 8 levels! ($10)

Level 1: Ta & Ti-Ti ($3)
Level 2: Ta, Ti-Ti, and Rest ($4)
Level 3: Half Note ($3)
Level 4: Tika-Tika ($3)
Level 5: Ti-Tika ($3)
Level 6: Tika-Ti (coming soon!)
Level 7: Ti-Tika and Tika-Ti ($3)
Level 8: Syn-CO-pa (coming soon!)

It's incredibly fun (especially if you purchase a "Conductor Hat" for one of your more advanced students to wear - can be found for around $12 on Amazon) and has the ability to adapt for both advanced students in your class, as well as students that struggle.

Directions:
Boarding Passes are handed out (32 passes are included) with all different rhythms, but one pass leads to the next. The teacher starts by clapping the first student's rhythm. After they aurally identify that it was THEIR rhythm, they echo it and then clap the second rhythm on their card, which will cycle to the next student until all rhythms have been clapped. After a student hears their rhythm and claps out their card, they join the train - which can conveniently be the line at the door at the end of music class.

Each card has its own Boarding Pass #, which is a secret code of sorts. Of the 5 characters, the first character says if the card's difficulty is Average (A), Easy (E), or Hard (H). The second and fifth characters are just the order that the cards must be passed out in. For example, Boarding Pass # H2QR4 has hard rhythms on it (the H at the beginning) and is the 24th card in the sequence. The QR in the Boarding Pass # is only put in to prevent your students from just lining up by number.

The teacher must make sure that they keep the cards in sequence order. If you have 20 students in your class, you could use cards 01-20, or 09-29, or even 31-18, because the 32nd card connects back to the first.

More on Difficulty:
There are 4 cards labeled with an E for being easier (cards 1, 8, 9 and 10). The rhythms on cards 1-20 alternate from only using ti-tika or only using tika-ti, so every card has one of each rhythm.
There are 12 cards labeled with an H for being harder (cards 21-32). These cards all have both ti-tika and tika-ti built into every rhythm.

*NEW* There is also a teacher paper that lists all the rhythms in order so you can follow along and facilitate.

Suggestions:
If you have a conductor hat, you can give it to a more advanced student that can walk around to make sure everyone claps their rhythms correctly. Use this game to line up at the end of class!

For those of you that purchased the first rhythm train, you’ll be happy to learn that the picture of the train on Rhythm Train 2 cards is flipped so you can keep them organized. =)

Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions or suggestions!
