Description

Each spring, my seventh graders turned our school library in our rural, isolated town into their own “museum” filled with exhibits that displayed what they had learned in their research of the Holocaust. Popular with students, faculty, and parents, participation in this project became a rite of passage at our junior high. We started small the first year, but by the third year, our librarian kept the “Museum” open two evenings so that more people from the community could experience it. This was a great community outreach: our librarian displayed related resources; our PTA served refreshments; our principal took the opportunity to greet parents, grandparents, and guests. It was a point of pride for the students who dressed up, stood beside their exhibits, and answered questions from visitors. This product contains 28 suggestions for exhibits.
