Why are shared readings so great?

Well for starters... They hit tons of standards all in one activity!

Each shared reading practices:

Sight word knowledge

Phonics/decoding practice

•Tier 2 and 3 vocabulary matching the theme of the set.

•Exposure to use of proper writing conventions (uppercase, spacing, punctuation)

Reading Strategies like one-to-one correspondence, and using picture and sound clues to read more challenging words.

•Fluency practice with daily reading, improving accuracy and speed.

CONFIDENCE! When a kid reads something repeatedly, they become more confident with it. When they become more confident with one reading experience, it is more likely to follow with them as they go on!

•These resources act as a great tool for introducing a new theme

Plus, each shared reading is created with love and care by a Kindergarten teacher who understands kids need to have FUN with what they do if we want them to love learning. I use these in my classroom every single week, due to popular demand by my students themselves! They enjoy the thematic pictures and sentences that get them excited for the season, holiday, topic, or whatever it is that we are diving into!

Still not sure? Try this FREE Shared Reading Set first to see if these are for you!
