Description


These printable worksheets and additional resources created by the author of "Stop Those Hiccups" correlate with that picture book (to be published Sept 30, 2016 by Rowanvale Books) and the “Hiccups Activities’ free document.

Some of the worksheets can also be used for other books, music teachers (2 worksheets show and have students label basic anatomy of how we breathe).

1. Interactive worksheets for each grade (K-6) per 10 combined Reading Literature & Informational Text standards
a) The class discusses the skills and completes the worksheets together
1) It may keep students more focused on the tasks
b) Worksheets for different grade levels are very similar
1) Students can be given different grade level worksheets at the same time to meet their needs
c) Kindergarten and 1st grade students can’t read any or most of the words on the worksheets
1) But even they can learn to point to each word on the worksheet as the teacher reads it
2) They can be told the 3 different choices of answers and circle the correct ones
2. “Stop Those Hiccups! A poem”
a) With many figurative language phrases in it such as metaphors and similes
b) It contains a reference to a mythology character
3. “Stop Jacob’s Hiccups”
a) A second version of the story without pictures
b) It uses multi-culture characters and their ideas for stopping hiccups
4. A Reader’s Theater version of the story (script) to compare and contrast with other media
5. A Mock Screenplay (professional format for part of the story) to compare and contrast with other media
6. Diagrams of the face and body that relate to hiccups
a) Used for the scientific/technical standards and activities
b) Students write the name of the parts as seen on the given online website pages
7. Media Worksheet
a) A blank table to compare and contrast (suggested answers provided)
b) Different aspects of a poem, prose/story, and script/play
