Description

Steps to Becoming A Catholic Saint:

Expand your student's knowledge of the saints to include the steps to becoming a Catholic saint and the canonization process. This interactive presentation for 3rd-5th grade clearly explains a somewhat confusing process. A "Pathway to Sainthood " handout is included. This is a great sheet for students to use to follow the steps. Also included is a graphic organizer that can be used to research a Saint.

One of the best features of this resource is that it is also guided for the teacher. You don't need to be a theology major to teach the steps to becoming a Catholic saint confidently! Just make copies, and you will be ready to go!

The interactive presentation includes:

  • Pathway handout for students to use to follow the steps
  • Graphic Organizer for a report on a favorite saint.
  • List of great saints for children to research with links to three great websites.

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to answer these questions:

  • What are saints?
  • Do you have to be perfect to become a saint?
  • Name some men, women, and children who are saints.
  • What is the Litany of Saints?
  • What are patron saints?
  • What are martyrs?
  • What are the steps to becoming a Catholic saint?
  • Does the Pope "make" someone a saint?
  • What happens during the canonization Mass?
