    Description

Catholic Interactive Presentations and Activities for Elementary:

This mega bundle of Catholic resources geared specifically for grades 3rd-5th includes everything needed to teach students about the most important aspects of the Catholic faith. Each resource guides both teachers and students, offering support to teachers who need an extra boost of confidence when teaching the faith. In addition, these low-prep and high-engagement resources make lesson planning quick and easy.

But, by far the greatest value is found in the discussion questions embedded throughout the presentations. These lead students to engage and apply what they learn to their personal lives as well as the world around them.

This bundle includes these individual products:

    1. Catholic Faith Basics: This Catholic Faith Basics Interactive Presentation keeps students engaged with age-appropriate content and language, great graphics, and guided discussion questions scattered throughout. It can be difficult when students come to us with different knowledge and faith experiences. This resource provides scaffolding for the other units you will teach and works well with any Catholic curriculum.

    What is included:

    • 52-slide presentation with discussion questions in both PowerPoint and Google Slides format
    • 2-sided printable worksheet
    • "Glory Be" prayer poster for classroom or religion notebooks
    • This is a guided resource for the teacher as well as the student. The only prep needed is making copies of the recording worksheet! (Gotta love that!)

At the end of this resource, students will be able to answer the following:

    • What is faith?
    • What is the difference between Faith and faith?
    • How do we get this gift of faith?
    • Who is the Holy Spirit and what are the images that we use to represent the Holy Spirit?
    • How do we show our faith with the "Sign of the Cross" and the "Glory Be' prayer?
    • How do we get "faith boosters? (The Holy Spirit gives us faith through the seven sacraments.
    • What is Pentecost?
    • How does God reveal faith through creation, Scripture, and Jesus?
    • How do we practice our faith through prayer, sacraments, Mass, and reading Sacred Scripture?
    • What is the Creed? (Very brief explanation of the Creed.)
    • What does faith help us do?

    How to use this resource:

    • I use this interactive and low-prep resource at the beginning of the year as a whole group activity. The questions scattered throughout the presentation help students stay engaged and make personal connections.
    • I usually break this up over several days. Students can capture their new knowledge by using the worksheet as they go through the slides or at the end. A "Glory Be' prayer slide can be printed for your classroom or glued into their religion notebooks.

    2. Angels: This interactive digital faith resource introduces your students to Catholic teachings about angels. It can be used as an independent activity through Google Classroom or a shared link. It can also be used as a whole group class activity.

    Included in this resource:

    • Activating prior knowledge questions
    • Five small reading passages: Angels as God's Messengers, Guardian Angels Guard and Protect, The Feast of The Guardian Angels, and the Archangels Gabriel. Raphael, and Michael.
    • Self-checking questions to assess understanding
    • Video of Guardian Angel Prayer
    • Explanation of Guardian Angel Prayer
    • Digital Jigsaw Puzzle
    • Reflection questions for text-to-self connection
    • Directions for assigning in Google Classroom

    3. Catholic Bible Basics is an interactive activity that teaches the basics of the Bible from a Catholic perspective. It is perfect to assign as independent work or to do together as a whole class activity.

I like to use these resources at the beginning of the school year to provide an overview, connect key concepts, and build domain vocabulary. This provides excellent scaffolding for the topics we study for the rest of the year. I have also used it as an introduction to a mini-unit on the Bible and it works great as well.

    Included in this Resource:

    • 17 bright and engaging guided interactive slides
    • 4 slides for recording notes/short answers. (One recording slide is found after every 3-4 information slides)
    • 9 self-correcting end-of-activity assessment questions
    • 1 end of activity digital word search

    Topics included:

    • What is the Bible?
    • Where does the word “Bible” come from?
    • Why is the Bible Special?
    • How did God write the Bible?
    • How long did it take to write it?
    • What are other names for the Bible?
    • What is in the Bible?
    • What are the two big sections of the Bible called?
    • What is in the Old Testament?
    • What is a prophet?
    • What are the Psalms?
    • What is in the New Testament?
    • Who are the apostles?
    • What is a Gospel?
    • What are the Acts of the Apostles?
    • Who wrote the letters in the Bible and why?
    • What do the abbreviations mean?

    4. The Catholic Season of Ordinary Time:

This is an easy way to teach your students that Ordinary Time is not so ordinary! You can break this up over several days and finish with the task cards for a formative or summative assessment.

    • 1. 20 Slide Guided PowerPoint presentation guides you and your students through the basics of the season. No teacher prep is needed here!
    • 2. A graphic organizer (with an answer key) lets students record their learning as they go.
    • 3. Eight task cards are designed for students to make personal connections to the material. The answer key is provided for this too.

    5. The Season of Lent: Presentation, Organizer, and Task Cards:

Lent can be a little difficult to explain to kids. This presentation helps you to teach about this season according to Catholic teaching, in a simple but accurate way.

    Topics include:

    • The Liturgical Calendar
    • Ash Wednesday
    • Holy Week
    • prayer
    • fasting
    • almsgiving
    • the three important events we celebrate during the Easter Triduum.
    • both the print and digital versions are included.

Included in the original print version:

    1. A pdf of 50 interactive slides that explain the liturgical season of Lent while providing opportunities for the students to participate in the presentation of the material.

    2. A 2-page graphic organizer for students to complete during the lesson.

    3. 12 task cards and student answer sheet provide for a formative or summative

evaluation while continuing to help students make a personal connection to the material.

Included in the new digital version:

    1. A pdf of 50 interactive slides that explain the liturgical season of Lent while providing opportunities for the students to participate in the presentation of the material.

    2. A self-checking assessment quiz.

    3. A short reflection to lead students to connect with the material.

    6. Lent Holy Week- Interactive Presentation and Reflection Questions

Lent Holy Week- Interactive Presentation and Reflection Questions:

This no-prep, guided, interactive presentation organizes the events of Holy Week so that students learn about and make a personal connection to each day's events.

    Student Learning Objectives:

    1. Understand that God speaks to us in his written word.

    2. Recognize the events of Jesus’ life that occur between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday.

    3. Make a personal connection to the events of Holy Week

Each day of Holy Week has two slides:

    • The first slide for each day includes a summary of the scripture that describes the event and some “facts” about each day. Students record the events of the day on the recording sheet.
    • The second slide includes a reflection-type question to help them make a connection to their own lives. Students add their reflections below their summary on the recording sheet.

I break this into chunks and complete it over the last 2 weeks before Easter. You can adjust it to whatever time you have available. No teacher prep is needed other than making copies of the recording sheet.

    7. Advent Activity: Daily Discussion Questions

These 20 daily discussion questions are a great way to keep your students reflecting on the reason for the season. They can be used as your morning meeting or anytime throughout the day.

Each of the 20 slides guides students to think about an aspect of Advent/Christmas and write or draw their personal response on the recording sheet. You can use these slides in any order so if you are short on time you can skip around and use the ones that best fit your needs. Just have the students number the boxes as they go along.

No matter how you choose to use this very resource, it delivers big on engagement and classroom discussions during the busy time of Advent!

Teachers are super busy so the only prep needed is to make copies of the recording sheet and project a slide! That's it!

    8. The Canonization Process: Becoming a Saint!

The process of canonizing saints can be confusing to adults and children alike. This interactive presentation provides a simplified explanation and contains points to stop and assess understanding.

    • Do you have to be perfect to become a saint?
    • Name some men, women, and children who are saints.
    • What is the Litany of Saints?
    • What are patron saints?
    • What are martyrs?

    9. Pope Francis Teaching Posters: These eight Catholic teaching posters help students learn about Pope Francis and his role in the Catholic Church. You can use them as a teaching aid, a bulletin board, or a wall display. I get my bulletin board ready with background and border and just put up the title poster on day one. I put one new poster up daily and the students learn that fact of the day.

    The posters explain:

    • When and where he was born?
    • What was his name before becoming Pope?
    • When he became a priest and in what Holy Order?
    • When he became Pope and why did he choose the name, Francis?
    • His role in the Universal Catholic Church?
    • A few of his favorite things!

    10. Guided Prayer for Adoration: Students do this guided meditation by themselves in the chapel during Adoration. This keeps them focused and helps teach them how to pray. I use it at the beginning of the year to introduce them to Eucharistic Adoration and then monthly throughout the year. Great way to help them practice prayer in small bits!
