Description

This is a lesson for Creative Writing during the Poetry unit. This lesson can be paired with the second "Poetry Freewrite" from my poetry freewriting collection. It is very important to first complete the "7 Deadly Sins of Poetry" lesson first in order to transition into this idea. This lesson aims to tease out what makes a good (or at least passable) poem for the students.

This slideshow features some more bad poems to rip apart, along with some comparisons to better versions of the poem (and a place to put a poem you like to discuss). Methods for teaching and notes are found in the "notes" section at the bottom of the slides.

Pair with second Poetry Freewrite and "Good Poetry Find" activity (linked as a google document on the last slide which you can view or copy) for a complete lesson.
