What educators are saying
This was so easy to print and go! It was engaging and relevant, and the perfect way for students to practice new skills while also reinforcing and reviewing previously taught ones. Highly recommend!
Description
This document was created to be able to collect data, track progress, and see student growth through the Reading Horizons program. There is one spreadsheet for each of the 6 Chapters. Each spreadsheet has 28 spaces for student names. Across the top of the spreadsheet are the reading skill, lesson number, and point value. The green columns are for the pre-test (formative) score. The red column is for the post-test (summative) score. The final two columns total the points so you can easily compare your student growth from the beginning to the end.
I give the formative assessment first. Then I list the students names and put scores in the green columns of the spreadsheet. This gives me and idea of the areas the students are weakest in so I can focus on those. If all the students have mastered a skill, I will only touch on that skill briefly to make sure everyone can perform the skill successfully and move on. After the chapter I give the same assessment. I put the data in the spreadsheet in the red columns. Then I can go through and compare the growth. If a student did not grow, I know to intervene more on that particular skill.
