Description

The Life Cycle of a Snowflake Reader's Theatre script

Level 3

Make your science standards come alive with this engaging Reader's Theatre play designed to help your students learn about the water cycle, as well as solids, liquids, and gasses as they follow the journey of Sarah and Stanley Snowflake through their water cycle. This fun script reinforces reading skills, science standards, science vocabulary, fluency, and speaking and listening skills.

Students will learn how snowflakes form as they travel through the three stages of the water cycle: precipitation, evaporation, and condensation. They will also learn about how heat from the sun contributes to this cycle as the snowflakes turn from a solid, to a liquid, to a gas with fun characters and enjoyable dialogue.

This is a Level 3 script meaning this would be perfect to challenge your "above grade level" students (grades 2nd-3rd) or "on grade level" students (grades 4th and 5th). There are 7 roles with 3 larger speaking roles which are identified on the script. You could easily combine narrator parts for less roles or add another snowflake and split up those lines for 8 roles.

This script is rich with vocabulary and more in-depth explanations about the water cycle, making it a Level 3 script. Science vocabulary is underlined throughout the script to reinforce science content and understanding. **Click below for Vocabulary cards to go with this script!

This would be a great tool to use in guided reading groups or in science centers. To extent it further, you could have students design a backdrop and props and perform this play for their classmates or families which is always fun!

*Little Lyrical Learners scripts are leveled to meet the needs of all readers within your class. Levels range from 1 -3, getting more challenging the higher the number.
