Place Value: Reading Expanded Form

This engaging activity is a fun way for students to practice Reading Expanded Form under the Place Value Standard! Explicitly focusing on the skill of breaking down standard numbers into hundreds, tens and ones (The Secret Formula!)

This science themed math activity gives the students the pride of learning while using science tools...nothing like using beakers and test-tubes to make a math experiment work!

Sometimes our kiddos look at numbers and need support to understand that those words represent numbers with value. This fun activity give students the opportunity to visually see how numbers in expanded form are translated into standard numbers with place value. Students use the beaker and test tube manipulative pieces to pull apart and put together number values using their Secret Formula Mat. Students that need additional support can use these tools to give them a visual while they complete the worksheet. Once a student finishes the worksheet they can look in the "Blue Book" (Teacher directions included) to check their answers and go back to rework if necessary.
