Description

During guided practice, students will work through examples of adding and subtracting fractions using the butterfly method with my guidance. I will provide step-by-step instructions and model the process on the whiteboard, ensuring students understand the concept before proceeding to independent practice.

Independent Practice: After the guided practice, students will work independently on a worksheet containing 10 adding fraction equations and 10 subtracting fraction equations. This will allow them to apply the butterfly method on their own and reinforce their understanding of adding and subtracting fractions.

To conclude the lesson, I will review the key points of adding and subtracting fractions using the butterfly method. I will also address any remaining questions or concerns from the students. Finally, I will remind students to practice using the butterfly method at home to solidify their understanding of the concept.
