Description
Practice reading, writing, speaking and listening in this activity. Groups read together about one of five Latin American revolutions and teach their peers what they've learned. When students discuss similarities, they will discover some common themes like heroic leaders, the influence of Enlightenment ideas, the impact of Napoleon Bonaparte's reign and a race based social hierarchy that carried on, for some countries, into the next decade. This lesson will take a full 90-100 minutes. Students should have an understanding of the enlightenment and French revolution. The lesson pairs well with Crash Crouse Latin American Revolutions and the Latin American mapping activity found here.
