Description

This product includes EVERYTHING students must know for the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) Test. Essential Facts are the most EFFECTIVE study tool for students preparing for their standardized testing. I know this from experience and in the past 5 years I have personally improved my schools Civics and Economics test scores by a substantial margin. I used this strategy with the lowest performing group of students in my school and our SOL pass rate improved from 75% to 96%. Last year I had a 100% pass rate and a 49% advanced score rate, with 8 students receiving perfect scores.

I highly recommend this product and am excited to share it with my fellow social studies teachers!

Directions: Before starting each of your Civics/Economics units distribute the essential facts for that particular unit to every student. I also distribute a page protector sleeve to each student to ensure they don’t lose their Essential Facts. I tell the students that the Essential Facts have every possible question on their unit tests and on their SOL test. Students understand this and make flash cards from the facts to help them study. This method has been tested and WORKS! If students do not want to make flash cards, they can still study by giving their facts to a friend or parent and having them quiz them on the facts. Students can also fold the facts so they cannot see the answer and that also allows them to study effectively.

Essential Facts (Everything students need to know about citizenship for the Virginia SOL Standards of learning test as well as many other state standardized testing such as, Florida’s EOC Assessment (End of Course Exam), and the Texas STAAR Exam.

Several states require students to pass a Civics/Government social studies test to graduate from high school which include: Alabama, Maryland, Mississippi, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia.
