Common Core Telling Time Unit

This common core aligned unit contains lessons for use over the course of three weeks. This unit contains detailed alignment with common core standards (all aligned standards are identified), a list of books aligning with this unit are identified, a calendar for implementation of lessons is included, fourteen lesson plans detailing each part of the lesson (introduction, guided practice/independent practice, conclusion, exit slip and remediation and enrichment) is included along with materials/worksheets needed for the implementation of each lesson. Lastly, a performance task to evaluate student learning over the course of this unit is included to determine student understanding of concepts taught during this unit.

The following are the lessons/topics included in this unit. Each of the lessons is completely aligned with common core and contains an introduction, a guided/independent practice piece, conclusion, exit slip (to evaluate student understanding of each lesson) and follow-up differentiation ideas for remediation and enrichment for each lesson. 6. Exploration of an Analog Clock & Telling Time to the Half-Hour
7. Writing the Time in Hours and Half-Hours Using an Analog and Digital Clock
8. Matching Times to the Hour and Half-Hour on Analog and Digital Clocks
9. Using Time to the Hour to Solve Word Problems
10. Using Time to the Half-Hour to Solve Word Problems
11. Using Time to the Hour and Half-Hour to Solve Word Problems
12. Using Time to the Hour and Half-Hour to Solve Word Problems (Day Two)
13. Understanding the Minutes in One Hour
14. Understanding the Hours in One Day
