Description

This check-in and check-out is made especially for elementary school teachers, counselors, BCBAs, and special education teachers. If you don't yet have a PBIS check in check out, this check in check out intervention can serve as a level one or level two intervention depending on how you choose to implement it.

The first step in this check in check out system is a beginning step in helping students identify and acknowledge their feelings. All feelings are acceptable and welcome. This is an important thing for students (especially students from situations of trauma) to understand. We can’t always control our feelings, but we can control how we choose to cope AND we can choose our actions.

Step #2 is where students choose from a list of 26 coping skills which coping skills they plan to use when they feel uncomfortable during the day. IF some of these coping skills aren’t an option due to variables in your classroom or school, just let students know that coping skill is not an option for today.

The next part of the check in check out happens at the end of the school day. Students identify how they are feeling at the end of the day and what coping skills they used. Students have an opportunity to reflect on both positives and negatives for the day in relation to their behavior and coping strategies.

These pbis check in check out forms become a daily reminder and a daily lesson on feelings, actions, and coping skills. When behavior and coping strategies are being taught, working on it daily is the best way. This check in check out system is good for relationship building between a student and staff member. It has the relational part of communication about feelings as well as coaching opportunities when talking about coping skills. The check in check out pdf or google form serves as a great springboard for a daily conference.

This product includes:

Check in check out form pdf (run double sided so students have one form per day)

Check in check out google form (check in form and check out form are two different forms)

The check in check out sheet includes three different options available in both color and black and white. Black and white for everyday use and the color version could be printed and laminated and marked with dry erase markers. (keeping a copy of the daily check in check out sheet is great for IEP documentation ;) Essentially there are nine options included:

Girl b&w pdf

Girl color pdf

Boy b&w pdf
