Description

This product is a novel study for the book Capture the Flag by Kate Messner. Social Studies is easily integrated into this unit due to the content of the novel. The story is a mystery about the flag that inspired the song "The Star-Spangled Banner" being stolen. Three kids go on an adventurous search for the stolen flag. Throughout the text there are historical references to Revolutionary Americans, American Symbols, American History, and American Government.

Included in this product are:
**A list of Common Core State Standards covered in third, fourth, and fifth grades.
**A chapter summary guide for the teacher for each of the 28 chapters (summary of chapter, list of characters in the chapter, list of historical references in the chapter, vocabulary words in the chapter)
